The Dhaba Mumbai
Punjabi (north Indian) cuisine reigns supreme at The Dhaba, a favorite joint of locals in Mumbai. Flavors of each dish are pronounced here, as they should be, such that you can taste at least some, if not all of the major ingredients that went into the spicing. Garlic and lemon flavors are strong while sweet tones are just perfect, not nauseating.

Kadhai Paneer, Aloo Gobhi and Tandoori Chicken are just a few dishes done to perfection at The Dhaba. Punjab cuisine is liberal with the use of ghee and creams, making for addictive but heavier meals. Be aware though, that there are only a few tables in air conditioning while most are in the open air of Mumbai’s very warm humidity. If you happen to sit outside, order a cool Salted Mint Lassi and relax.

Most people who are frequent diners here will agree that service is dicey- sometimes good, sometimes, well…. This is a restaurant that was designed to replicate a roadside eatery but with modern comforts. Whether the proprietors succeeded or not is up to interpretation. One does not come here for a romantic dinner or for quiet conversations. Tables are very near one another and privacy is non-existent. Valet is also dicey so better to either park your own car or come in a cab. With all the annoyances, you might wonder why come here at all. Well, as any of the loyal diners will tell you, the food is that good. Despite its flaws, The Dhaba is constantly crowded with locals as it is one of Mumbai’s truly authentic Punjabi restaurants.
