Strawberry Water- Easy Flavored Waters

While smoothies are a wonderful way to get the nutrients of fruits and vegetables in an easy and quick drink, sometimes you just don’t feel like drinking a thick consistency of a beverage. Sometimes you want a drink that’s as close to water as possible but with a little flavor. No doubt you’ve encountered a bunch of flavored waters and flavored bubbly waters in the markets nowadays. I prefer making my own since it’s super easy to do. One day recently, I bought a basket of beautiful strawberries from the Farmers’ Market but ended up disappointed with the lack of flavor. One afternoon, with the intention of incorporating the lackluster strawberries into a smoothie, I threw them in the blender with a bit of ice, water (water-based smoothies are awesome!) and then realized I ran out of everything else I usually put in smoothies. The only thing left in my fridge was a pear so I cut it up and threw it in the blender with the strawberries. What I ended up with was a refreshing Strawberry water, lightly sweetened by the pear, with a thin consistency like juice. Voila- nutritious, flavorful, refreshing all in one.

Serves 4 (Medium sized glasses)

Ingredients

~8-10 Strawberries, hulled

1/2 pear, roughly chopped (I like to use Asian pear but you can use any type you like)

4 cups cold water

1/2 cup ice

Method

Place all the ingredients into a blender; blend until smooth. Serve immediately. Leftover Strawberry Water can be kept in the fridge for up to 3 days; simply shake again before drinking.
