Editor’s Note- 2015***
Since my several stays at St. George Rome some years ago, the boutique hotel has been taken under by the Indigo Hotel chain. I haven’t visited the property since then so am unsure if it still upholds the same standards.

St. George Roma- Best Boutique Hotel in Rome

In one of the most romantic cities in the world, it is only fitting that we find an equally romantic boutique luxury hotel that possesses all the amenities of a large property, but exudes the elegant charm and refined sophistication that comes only with smaller settings. St. George Roma is the essence of classic Italy fused with modern touches- its cream colored marble and soft, white candle lights creating a cozy ambiance throughout the hotel.

Located on a 15th century street, St. George is an historic building that was renovated into the marvelous architectural gem that it is today, surrounded by similarly historic palazzos from days gone by. Stone walkways and dim-lit sconces further evoke a yesteryear feel that leaves many of us finding it very difficult to leave Italy. Guestrooms at St. George continue with the cool cream tones on dark wood furniture, focusing on classic minimalism. Unlike other properties with similar design concepts, St. George has managed to make modernity warm instead of cold, and minimalism soothing instead of sparse.

Plush duvets and fluffy pillows beckon the weary explorer while a romantic writing desk tempts even the most literary novice to write home. The details here are superior, with intricate crown moldings and paneled walls. Every luxurious touch of the rooms subtly whisper an aura of a modern Italian palazzo. Venture through the St. George and you’ll find the beautiful Library, where you can sit back and read a book while sipping espresso.

Spoil yourself with a sumptuous dinner at I Sofa di Via Giulia, where St. George’s simplicity, clean lines and attention to details are translated into fresh, mouth-watering fusion creations. Start or finish off an elegant evening at the Wine Bar or Cigar Lounge, where soft music, an extensive wine list, finger foods and hand-rolled cigars are the specialty of the house. Should you wish to remain in your room, room service is available 24 hours a day. The St. George Spa offers ever more romantic pampering, with candlelight and marble treatment rooms where guests can choose from an array of Carita face and body treatments as well as personalized cosmetology consultations.

St. George is the furthest thing from a typical boutique hotel. This is a true palazzo in Italy that has created a height of simple luxury, maintained the historically friendly and vivacious Italian way of service and left no stone unturned when it comes to the details of making their guests extremely happy.
