Spicy Soy Avocado Appetizer

When I reached my late 20’s, I reached a period of life where my hatred for avocado turned into passionate love. I now can’t recall why I would ever have hated this heart-healthy fruit that is mellow flavored and super creamy. With perfect avocados in season, I love serving these Spicy Soy Avocado appetizer to kick of a dinner party or even a dinner for two as they’re super easy to make and look beautiful on a classic white plate. The sweet and spicy sauce drizzled over lends a brilliant kick to the creaminess of the avocado and fresh minced garlic is a must!

Makes 4 half avocados

Ingredients

2 medium to large ripe avocados

Juice of 1/2 fresh lime

2-3 cloves garlic, finely minced

2 tablespoons chopped fresh cilantro

For the Sauce:

1 tablespoon soy sauce

1 tablespoon plum sauce

1/2 tablespoon Sriracha chili sauce

Method

In a small bowl, mix together the ingredients for the sauce. Set aside.

Cut the avocado lengthwise in half so you end up with 4 halves. Pit the avocados and place the halves on a serving platter. Drizzle the fresh lime juice evenly over the avocados.

Sprinkle the minced garlic and chopped cilantro over the avocados. Finally, drizzle the sauce evenly over the avocados and serve immediately.
