Hong Kong Milk Tea
Just like its counterpart- Hong Kong Milk Coffee, Hong Kong Milk Tea is one of the most popular drinks in Asia, spawning other sub-cultures with drinks like Hong Kong Milk Bubble Tea. Hong Kong Milk Tea uses creamy Evaporated Milk instead of regular milk, creating a smooth round flavor with the typically black tea used in the brew. This milk tea is great hot or cold.

Serves 4

Ingredients
3/4 tablespoon loose black tea leaves
5 cups boiling water left to cool for 10 minutes
3 tablespoons sugar (add more if you prefer sweeter tea)
1 1/3 cups evaporated milk at room temperature

Method

Place the black tea leaves at the bottom of a large teapot. Carefully pour the hot water over the tea and allow to steep for 2 to 3 minutes.

If the teapot has a strainer built in, you can add the sugar directly to the teapot, stirring until thoroughly dissolved. Otherwise, strain the tea leaves out of the liquid before adding the sugar.

Divide the evaporated milk evenly into 4 serving mugs. Slowly pour the sweetened tea over the evaporated milk. Serve immediately.
