Located on Giudecca Island, just a short gondola ride away from San Marco, Hotel Cipriani & Palazzo is, as its name suggests, a Venetian palace where old-world charm and modern amenities allow guests to experience an Italian noble way of life. Cipriani’s gardens have become world-famous for their fragrant beauty that begins the moment you dock and continue through the land, with sculptures randomly scattered.

The Hotel offers elegantly appointed suites with stunning views of the gardens, pool or lagoon while the adjacent Palazzo, a 15th century building connected to the Hotel via ancient flowered pathways, boasts views of the 1000 year old St. Mark’s Basilica. With crystal chandeliers, classic Tuscan furnishings, soaring floor to ceiling Italian windows, granite flooring and opulent marble baths, guest rooms in both the Hotel and the Palazzo are what we would imagine Venetian royalty indulged in on a daily basis. Luxury is taken to new heights at the Cipriani, with exquisite attention to details, including velvet fabrics, Italian arts and crafts and flowing flower arrangements.

Staff make you guests very much at home, albeit a very fancy and gorgeous home, (guests at the Palazzo have access to private butlers). With four dining venues that are each as romantic as the other, guests will experience Venetian cuisine at its finest. My personal favorites are between the Fortuny Restaurant and Fortuny Terrace, both stunning in different personas. Rich fabrics, dramatic mirrors and vaulted ceilings reminiscent of St. Mark create the elegant, candlelit Fortuny Restaurant, paralleling its delicate and delicious dishes, while the outdoor Fortuny Terrace offers warm garden flowers, an antique water fountain and gently drifting piano music by moonlight.

Cipriani’s Casanova Spa, named after the infamous lover who once had his romantic trysts right at the Hotel, provides guests with the very best skin and body care that Italy has long been known for. One particular spa room has Dolby surround system with azure colored fiber optics along the ceiling and walls and is dedicated for couples’ romantic massage. Cipriani is every bit of a romantic Venetian fairy tale palace, leaving its lucky guests with an indelible impression of Italy.
