Dr. Hauschka Eye Balm- Best Eye Moisturizer for Dry Skin

One of the easiest ways to tell someone’s age is by looking at their eye areas. Is it wrinkle and line free, soft and smooth or is it riddled with crow’s feet and other telltale signs of aging and/or lack of care? For everybody but even more so for those of us who wear eye make-up, taking care of the skin around the eyes is crucial to maintaining the freshest look we can.

If you have dry skin, you’ll especially fall in love with Dr. Hauschka’s Eye Balm- the best eye moisturizer for dry skin. Formulated with carrot, calendula, anthyllis, apricot kernel oil, jojoba oil and beeswax, this yellow-colored eye balm instantly dissipates the appearance of fine lines and in the long term, helps eradicate crow’s feet and other eye area wrinkles. For those of you unfamiliar with eye balms, its consistency is different than that of eye lotions, serums and moisturizers. This balm is reminiscent of a Vicks Vaporub but a little bit more dense. You have to take a tiny amount (recommended amount is about a grain of rice) on your fourth finger, rub it between both fourth fingers for a few seconds to warm and soften the balm and then gently dab around the entire eye area. You can’t just dip your finger into the balm and apply straight to the eye without the warming up; you’ll end up with hard chunks of the balm.

The Dr. Hauschka site says this eye balm should be used in the morning only but I disagree with this recommendation. If you have dry skin, this eye balm is fantastic for both morning and night, offering superior soothing reactions to dryness and eye lines. If you have any other type of skin (I have combination), you’ll want to use this exclusively at night if you use make-up. Due to its very emollient nature, using this in the morning with make-up resulted in raccoon eyes for me, smearing both eyeliner and mascara so I avoid this for daytime. For nighttime, it’s a powerful tool to combat all aging issues including tired looking eyes, puffiness and lines.

I can’t comment on its effectiveness on dark circles as fortunately, I rarely have them but I can attest to Dr. Hauschka’s Eye Balm as being a skincare product that really does turn back the clock for your eye area. After one week of use, fine lines almost completely disappear and after two months, a general brightness returns to the entire eye area. Dr. Hauschka skincare products are certified natural and/or organic by NATRUE and/or BDIH standards, free from synthetic fragrances, dyes and preservatives, free from mineral oils, parabens, silicone and PEG, and are dermatologically tested for sensitive skin.

Depending on where you purchase this from, the Dr. Hauschka Eye Balm ranges in price from US $45 to $55 for a 0.34 oz/ 10 g jar that lasts approximately 4 to 5 months with twice daily use or longer with once daily use. That is a phenomenal deal for the ability to turn back time on the skin around your eyes. Available at stores worldwide including Amazon, Beauty.com, CVS and Dermstore.
