Blackberry Almond Smoothie
The blackberries I’ve encountered in the West have mostly been sour, regardless of whether they were picked at their prime or not. Because of their extreme tartness, I like to throw them in a smoothie with a banana and a touch of honey with heart-healthy almonds to reap the health benefits.
Serves 4
Ingredients
10 oz (~ 1 3/4 cups) fresh blackberries
1 large banana
1 ½ cups non-fat milk or for Vegan, use soy, rice or almond milk
1 cup Greek or plain yogurt (omit for Vegan)
½ cup plain roasted almonds (unsalted, unseasoned) (Click here to learn how to roast your own almonds)
3 tablespoons honey (omit for Vegan)
1 ½ cups crushed ice
Method
Place all the ingredients in a blender and process until completely smooth. Drink immediately.
