Throughout the centuries, Asian women have always prized smooth, silky and light skin. Here’s another one of my favorite skin lightening body scrubs that trace their origins to Bali and Thailand, both regions infamous for organic skin care routines. The sea salt is a natural exfoliator while turmeric and lemon juice both have skin lightening properties. A slight variation on this recipe by substituting the sea salt with finely ground rice grains can result in a facial scrub, popular in Japan. The facial scrub version is fabulous for lightening skin pigmentations from sun exposure or remnants of pimples.
Ingredients
1/3 cup course sea salt
4 tablespoons ground turmeric powder
A few tablespoons fresh lemon juice
Method
Place the dry ingredients in a container and shake or toss together until thoroughly combined. Add a few tablespoons of lemon juice to the dry ingredients until a course paste is formed.
Remember that body scrubs work best on dry skin so don’t shower or bathe before the scrub. Use the scrub on one section of your body at a time, concentrating on dry patches such as elbows, knees and feet. Also firmly scrub on thighs and hips to stimulate circulation.
Rinse thoroughly and follow with moisturizer.
