We all know that feeling of anticipating a successful business trip or a beautiful holiday, only to have the journey ruined by a terrible flight. Most people aren’t very fond of being cooped up in an enclosed space for long periods of time. Add to that indigestible food, mind-numbingly bad service and seats that would be comfortable only if you’re made out of rubber, and you’ve got a complete nightmare. Through years of travel, I’ve had the opportunity to be onboard countless airlines around the world. Most of them leave you sighing deeply upon arrival at your destination, thankful that at least you’re safe and sound, albeit starving, cranky and bent out of shape, literally. Here are my picks, though, for the world’s very best airlines that redefine the art of flying. These are airlines that have worked incredibly hard through the decades to provide and maintain an unparalleled level of customer service, first-class cuisine in all the cabins, the most comfortable seats in the skies and a bevy of amenities that even other airlines speak of. They are the best at what they do- getting us from one corner of the earth to another, not only safely and smoothly, but in such a manner that makes us forget we are in an enclosed space. These are airlines that make the flying a journey in itself.
