Dr. Gross Ferulic + Retinol Wrinkle Recovery Serum- Anti- Wrinkle Serums

It’s no secret that since I discovered Dr. Gross’ skincare line a few years ago, I’ve been obsessed with several of his products. The latest one I’ve added to my nightly routine is the Ferulic + Retinol Wrinkle Recovery Serum. For those of you familiar with my beauty reviews, you know that thankfully, I don’t actually have wrinkles yet. So why the anti-wrinkle serum?

It’s never too early to be proactive whereas behaving reactively may not do much, as in, too little, too late. In my humble, non-dermatologist opinion, unless you’re in your teenage years or in your 20’s with very oily skin, it is not too early to take preventative action. Using anti-wrinkle and anti-aging skincare products is no different than trying to maintain a healthy diet from a young age. Sure, when you’re 25 you can eat pretty much what you want and exercise the calories off. Try that when you’re over 35 and definitely over 40 (as I hear from family and friends who are over 40), it’s not going to go so well.

Let’s go over the main components of Dr. Gross’ Ferulic + Retinol Recovery Serum. Most importantly, this overnight serum is free of parabens, sulfates and phthalates. In this day and age, all your skincare should be free of these cancer and allergy contributing components.

The serum’s main three ingredients are:

Ferulic Acid– an organic compound that is a plant-based antioxidant. Its role is to turbo-charge other vitamins effects and provides sun damage protection.

Retinol– by now you’re probably familiar with this ubiquitous ingredients. A form of Vitamin A, retinol serves the role of smoothing out wrinkles and fine lines while simultaneously moisturizing the skin.

Niacinamide- also known as Vitamin B3, this ingredient provides as a type of barrier against free radical damage while reducing wrinkles and hyperpigmentation.

The texture and consistency of this overnight anti-wrinkle serum is somewhat thin similar to buttermilk with that cream color. Possessing a faint but pleasant green vegetable scent (I can’t quite put my finger on what vegetable it reminds me of but definitely one of the greens), the serum dissolves into skin immediately, leaving virtually no trace after a minute.

After two months of nightly use, I’ve seen fine lines completely disappear and definitely no new hyperpigmentation spots, a huge win! As with any other skincare product, long term use is key here to ensure efficacy and either maintenance (if you had little to no problems to begin with) or eradication (if you had deep wrinkles or lines and spots). Skincare takes time to work its magic and if there’s one thing I’ve discovered about Dr. Gross’ skincare line, every product I’ve tried delivers on its promises both short and long term.

For a stronger boost in the efficacy of this anti-wrinkle serum, pair it with Dr. Gross’ Ferulic + Retinol Wrinkle Recover Peel. No mess, no doctors’ visits and no downtime. In appearance, these “peels” look like round cotton pads but are a type of high dose retinol infused exfoliator. Much like another one of my all time favorite at-home peels, the Dr. Gross Alpha Beta Medi Spa Peel, this one is simple to use. Simply remove the pad from its individual packet, gently but firmly buff on clean, dry skin prior to using any skincare products (but after cleansing).

I like to use these once a week, concentrating on areas around the mouth, upper cheeks, between eyebrows and even on the neck (one of the key areas to show aging). Follow with a toner, this Ferulic + Retinol Wrinkle Recovery Serum and your choice of moisturizers (see my list of recommendations on this), you’re good to sleep away the day’s stresses. This peel does double duty as a gentle exfoliator whose effectiveness I saw after 3 uses (once per week).

We may not know 100% for sure whether all these great products will keep our skin looking 35 when we’re 70, but one thing is for certain- they’re proving themselves highly effective for my skin right now and doing a good job of keeping my skin looking better today than it did when I was 20. To me, that’s priceless.

Dr. Gross Ferulic + Retinol Wrinkle Recovery Serum available at US $88 for a pump bottle that lasts approximately 3 months with nightly use. The Peel is available also at US $88 for a package containing 16 treatments.
