Nelson J Hair Argan Oil 7 Moisture Healing Hair Mask

Since spending many days in Bali and Thailand throughout my teenage years and 20’s, I became obsessed with traditional methods of hair care. That is, using nature’s most potent ingredients to keep my long hair naturally jet black, shiny and healthy. The obsession arose from previous years of hair care errors- using super foaming shampoos that looked great on commercials but in reality stripped my strands of their natural moisture, on top of a terrible perm my mother suggested I get when I was thirteen.

Thankfully, I never repeated the perm mistake again and of course, years later now, my hair is back to its original naturally wavy self (courtesy of my father). With this naturally wavy and voluminous hair, there are awesome pros and a few annoying cons. I love that my natural waves are the kind of loose curls that most people have to use curling irons to achieve and I get to skip that abrasive heating tool. I love that I don’t have to worry about having flat, limp looking hair.

Conversely, on a humid day (or any day I’m in Southeast Asia), I do have to worry about my hair frizzing up to the point where I am sporting an Asian afro a la my teen years. I don’t always have the luxury of having a salon blowdry or even have the time to do a complete blowdry myself given my very long hair. The only way to combat frizzy hair and more importantly, to keep these black locks smooth and shiny is to use the best conditioner.

I was recently introduced to Nelson J’s Argan Oil 7 Moisture Healing Mask and it was love at first condition. Nelson J’s hair mask promises to restore moisture to hair, detangle, soften and shine; it delivers on every promise. With  Jojoba butter, Argania Spinosa Seed Oil, Jojoba Oil, Olive Oil and Vitamin E, this thick off-white hair mask coats strands long after you’ve washed it out, continuing its effects much like a leave-in conditioner.

Those pesky tangles I can’t always avoid due to long, wavy hair were completely gone. Combing was a breeze. A quick blowdry without getting every bit of moisture out (which would usually result in frizzy hair) still gave me a smooth, soft look. I’ve been using Nelson’s Argan Oil 7 Moisture Healing Mask once a week for over a month now and love that it mimics the naturally potent effects of using fresh coconut milk on my hair the way I did while in Bali and Thailand.

At US $20 for a medium sized jar, this truly healing hair mask will last a good 4 months or so if used once a week on long hair like mine, a supreme investment for luscious locks. The Nelson J Healing hair mask comes in 3 scents- Coconut, Pomegranate and Rosemary Mint.
