Blendtec- Best Blender In The World

It is no exaggeration to state that life changes after you have a Blendtec- the world’s best blender extraordinaire. Forget those wimpy blenders whose motors sound like a 30 year old car wheezing its way up a San Francisco hill; blenders that force you to insert a spatula to coax pieces of fruit or vegetables stuck on its blades; blenders whose cleanup is a gamble of whether your fingers will remain intact that day.

The first time I laid eyes on a Blendtec I was in complete awe of its sturdy motor, modern touch “screen” and ergonomically designed body. It was like meeting R2-D2. The first set of recipes I tested were a variety of smoothies incorporating ice cubes (not crushed), roughly chopped fruits and vegetables and liquids. With settings designed specifically for smoothie, ice cream (we’ll get to this amazing setting later), soup, whipping (for egg whites and cake batters) and margaritas, there’s nothing this monster of a machine can’t do.

Each setting has its own cycle, starting on a low to medium to high speed depending on what you’re making. Smoothies came out, well, incredibly smooth- the kind of smooth no other home blender had ever achieved before, the kind of smooth that might tempt you to open an impromptu smoothie stand in front of your house.

The real test though was when I threw in lightly stir-fried chunks of cauliflower, garlic and olive oil. (In a wok, I had sautéed huge chunks of the cauliflower with about 8 cloves of garlic and a few tablespoons of olive oil for roughly 2 to 3 minutes). I set the Blendtec on Soup to see if it could create a flawless mash out of the cauliflower to simulate mashed potatoes. In less than 1 minute, I had my new favorite side dish- Garlic Mashed Cauliflower. It was just as smooth as mashed potatoes at the fancy restaurants that whip the potatoes into submission but still retained its gritty, fibrous texture so that you didn’t feel like you were eating mush. No lumps of garlic, no chunks of cauliflower left unpuréed- just a smooth perfect side dish without the guilt.

Now for dessert. I threw in semi-frozen peaches, crushed ice and honey and used the ice cream setting. In 1.5 minutes I had a gorgeous fresh Peach Sorbet just like Michelin restaurants make. I could not believe my eyes or palate.

With the Blendtec a permanent fixture in my life, getting my daily dose of fruits and vegetables not only becomes super easy but also deliciously enjoyable. Going carb-free becomes hassle-free. Indulging in desserts becomes sin-free. Besides the abundance of perks that the Blendtec comes with (outstandingly easy cleanup since the blades and the container are as one and a 10 year warranty), the biggest perk of all is greatly improved health and well being- which makes the Blendtec worth its weight in gold.

Some of my favorite recipes made with Blendtec:
