Mitchell and Peach Shower Gel & Body Oil

As a citizen of the world considered with water issues and as one who resides most of the time in California, saving water is always at the forefront of my mind. I love long hot baths as much as the next person but given California droughts, baths are a very rare occasion these couple of years. Making the most of shower time is now more important, ensuring I have my few quiet alone moments of the day to recharge and relax.

I’m always on the lookout for the next great shower gel and body oil/lotion combination. Mitchell and Peach Shower Gel and Body Oil recently came to my attention. If you haven’t heard of them, you’re not alone. Mitchell and Peach is a boutique brand out of London, though their products are available through their website.

Their lightly moisturizing shower gel gently foams, denoting a lack of harsh soaps that actually strip your skin’s natural moisture. Of a thin consistency and light honey hue, the lovely Mitchell and Peach Shower Gel smells of a bowl of fresh lavender sprigs bathed in fresh squeezed lemon juice with a grating of orange peel. The scent is gentle enough to be unisex, not overpowering to the point of causing headaches (which I often get from terrible perfumed products).

With English honey, Vitamin E and wheat proteins, this body wash does a lovely job of relaxing me (as lavender is famous for doing) and cleaning while hydrating. Once done in the shower, I pat my skin semi-dry and proceed to rub the Mitchell and Peach Body Oil all over. It’s concentrated so a little goes a long way. It spreads evenly and easily, unlike some body oils that require copious amounts to spread all over.

This body oil is thick, extremely moisturizing and results in a glorious shine the like of which we typically see movie stars sporting in bikinis on a James Bond movie set. Containing almond oil and Vitamin E, the body oil smells just like the Shower Gel but with more depth and power, its scent lingering overnight or all day.

If you’ve ever suffered from dry or flaky skin or if you’re a pregnant mother who’s concerned about keeping stretch marks at bay, Mitchell and Peach’s Body Oil is a strong bet on definitely providing high moisture to parched skin and potentially easing the appearance of stretch marks.

The 250 ml bottle of Shower Gel lasts about 3 to 4 months with daily use and is about US $30. The 100 ml bottle of Body Oil lasts almost as long with daily use and is available at about US $47.

The Mitchell family that’s behind the eponymous brand has been farming the same land in Kent, England for five generations. They cultivated everything from strawberries to apples and hops, eventually planting fine lavender. From these lovingly grown plants and from honey collected from hives on the family estate, they created a line of skincare products that are all hand-blended and incorporate mature essential oils.
